just about every time i jog, i get some sort of cramp. either under my bust on one side or lower abdomen. im in shape and run 5 miles sometimes. whenever i work out with an elliptical/cross trainer, i get no cramp. sometimes i hardly exert myself. i just run through it and it tends to go away. sometimes i dont eat for 4 hours beforehand. . . its just so annoying and i hate it.

  1. Eat bananas ill help try to eat them at lunch or like 45 minutes before a race

  2. What I do is a stretch... Stand up and spread your legs apart. Tilt to your left and you will feel the side of you stomache stretch. It usually goes away after i do this.

  3. I had the same problem when I first starting running a long time ago. I suggest having a gap of at least 3 hours between your previous meal and when you go jogging. Also, potassium helps prevent side aches so eat a banana about an hour before your workout. You can also drink a sports drink but I would dilute it to at least 1 part water per 1 part energy drink. I usually drink plenty of water about an hour before I go out so I'm pretty hydrated. I find this REALLY helps to prevent side aches. Just be sure you don't drink a bunch of water right before you go or you'll get the worst cramps ever. I also incorporated a stretch into my stretching routine before I go running that helps prevent side aches. Basically, while standing, cross your right leg in front of your left, then take your left arm and lift it up and over your head and bend to your right side. You should feel a stretch in the left side of your body. Do this for 20+ sec and then do the complete opposite to stretch your right side.
