I woke up to having some cramping. I thought no big deal. Well as I was driving I noticed they were coming about 10-12 min. apart. It felt like period cramping not to painful just annoying. I got to the doc and he checked me and told i was about 2cm and 50% effaced. After leaving I still have the cramping at the same pace 12 minutes apart. But now they hurt more. Has this happened to any one. the cramping is in my thighs and sides it feels like.

  1. well i'm 35.5 weeks, 1 1/2 c's dilated (maybe more by now) and i have been having menstrual like cramps too... the "what to expect when expecting" book said its a sign of early labor... and you are pretty much about to drop! have you lost your plug yet? or have you had any pinkish discharge? i think you are going to pop soon!

edit; wow the people above me are really uneduacated... don't listen to them... your not even in the first phase of labor yet... but you do sound like you could be very close to it...

and being dilated does not automaticly mean you are in labor... lol

  2. It reads like labor.  I would stay close to the hospital area for the day and see what happens.  Maybe your doctor forgot that when you dilate, your in labor.  Also, everyone is different.  You may have a baby tonite or tomorrow.

  3. you could be in the early stages of labor.  our bodies are very good at this sort  of thing and if you get 4 or more of these pains in a hour your docs should be alerted.  take care and happy baby to you.

  4. Your in labor!!

http://contractionmaster.com will help you time them once they get closer together!

ETA ~ I'd be VERY shocked if you not in labor.
