Cramps in early pregnancy...?

I am 6 weeks pregnant (only found out last weekend) and have been having cramps on and off since before I found out. In fact, I was positive I was about to get my period, because I was cramping as usual. Since finding out I am actually pregnant, I have been getting menstrual-like cramps on and off at different times of the day every day. I know cramping is common and normal in early pregnancy, as long as it's not severe and/or accompanied by bleeding (which it's not!), but how long should this feeling last? Is this something that will last a few weeks, a few months, or the whole 9 months?

  1. You will have aches, pains, cramps, probably the whole 9 months. I would only worry if the cramps become very intense and you start bleeding.

  2. First of all congrats!!! I had cramps on and off through the first trimester.

  3. I felt that way off and on until about 13 weeks. It got less and less as time went on, but by 13 weeks it had pretty much stopped. It was annoying, and made me totally paranoid, but everything is fine. Good luck, have a happy and healthy pregnancy!
