Cramps making me crazy!!!!!?

I've started trying to run a couple times a week but I can't run for more than a couple minutes without getting a horrible cramp in my stomach and I have to stop. Please someone help me. I thought cramps were caused by dehydration but I don't know if I'm wrong about that. I always make sure to drink a lot of water/gatorade a couple hours before I run. I've also tried to just keep running when I get one to see if it wouldd go away, but it only gets worse. Please tell me how to fix this problem. I'm trying to train to join the national guard and this has really been holding me back. Why is my stomach retarded???

  1. make sure to wait at least an hour to run after snack. 3 hours for meal. try drinking sips many times a day instead of a lot right before. also, breathe through nose and mouth and try to keep it relaxed. warming up a bit before going on run like doing some really easy jogging might also help. hope this helps.


  2. uhhh.. I would suggst drinking more water. check out your diet as well, there may just be soem nutrient that you are lacking. YOu may want to go and talk to a doctor about this issue. I hope you get to feeling better soon! ( and good luck with the national guard :) )

    wen u run inhale through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. hard to do, bbut it helps.

  4. I'm not sure the reason why, but..

    gatorade is meant to be drank after you run, or during, so you can put back the electrolytes that you've lost while physical activity. So i wouldn't drink it before. Again, drink lots of water. Eat a banana, eat healthy, eat breakfast, etc.

  6. 1)Don't eat or drink 2 hrs before a race(you can sip than spit water)

    2)put your arms over your head if your siting down waiting to run

    3)Be ready for the cramp that way if you have it you wont be suprised and it wont effect you

  7. Try eating banana before you run.that may help!
