I have taken cranberry extract for successfully treating a uti in the past. I cannot remember the dosage. Does anyone know how many mgs per dose, and times per day for effective treatment? All I remember is that not taking enough will not work and too much will cause diarreah.

BTW, I just woke up this morning with a hint of symptoms. I know enough to go to the doctor within a few days if no improvement.

  1. You will probably see a dosage on the bottle. My guess is 2 to 3 capsules (if you are taking it in capsule form) 2 to 3 times per day.

You can adjust your dosage up or down depending on the result.

  2. i think you will get a leaflet in the medicine, with the dosage in it. i wish you well

  3. You can find some answers in a web search for cranberry + uti + dose.

  4. it migh be dangerous...test your kidny, both rt and lt

  5. Try AZO pills.  They turn your urine orange, but they ease the pain wonderfully!  You can find them in the medicine isle in almost any store, like wal-mart, target, walgreens, albertsons, rite-aid, etc.

As for the Cranberry pills, I think you can take 2 a day.  But they are mainly to prevent it and not really get rid of pain.

  6. Sorry, dunno.

I use level tablespoon of baking soda in half glass or water 3 a day. Sure the cranberry tastes better, but am not in a hurry to need to try it.

  7. yes.

  8. Cranberry, 400 mg two times daily or you can drink 16oz of pure (unsweetened), cranberry juice daily.
