Crane, Toms, Wilson – Trio tied at leading positions at Humana Challenge
Humana Challenge could not have encountered a more interesting twist than this.
With three leading and prominent golfers tied at the leading position, the competition has entered a completely unique and distinctive phase.
It was Ben Crane and David Toms, initially, but with Mark Wilson shooting a 10-under 62, the duo turned into a trio.
So far, the scores made by all three players competing for the maintenance of their lead have been blistering.
With Crane teeing 63 on three course Palmer Private and with Toms coming with greater intensity to make it 65 on the Nicklaus Private course, Wilson had no other option than to come up with the best he could do.
"Everything has been much improved, and we got a much better field because of it," said Crane. "This is a great place for players to start their year, because it's like playing indoors".
It is also important to mention here that rookie Harris English scored a 62 at Nicklaus Private course to form a quartet and book a place in the top 13 golfers from this tournament.
For Harris, it is more about having fun and proper entertainment when it comes to golf.
However, apart from these golfers, it has been Wilson who has been a source of shock, as well as a surprise, for the pundits.
In the midst of this qualification, and passing through all the multitude stages, what they failed to realise was that Wilson has already earned himself a reputation.
He further cemented it after he claimed victory at the Hawaii and Phoenix in the very beginning of his last season.
In addition to this, he is also expected to extract some valuable lessons from his offseason connections that he developed at Coachella Valley.
The connections helped him in providing access to the membership of Ironwood Country Club.
"It's always been very good to me, and then Q-school has been good to me in the desert," Wilson said. "I get a lot of good vibes here".
Apart from the already prevalent and constantly battling trio, pundits expected much from Dustin Johnson, only if he was to play the entire tournament.
