Crans-sur-Sierre saves Matteo Manassero from the qualifying school
Having undergone the First World War in the Alps, the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club is currently in progress with one of its most exciting play ever. The Omega European Masters once again has welcomed a player with an exceptional game talent beyond his age, Matteo Manassero. In the first round of the event, he held the top of the board with a striking 64 which is very tactfully saving him from November’s qualifying school.
As a player who is famous for wearing a cap with the logo, Kinder’s company, he proved to be another incomparable Italian who has been able to shock the grounds. Manassero followed the footsteps of the Molinari brothers and displayed a seasoned-pro-show. He soared to the top of the Alps with a minus 7 in round one.
The seventeen year old managed a brilliant score in last year’s Open and was known as the youngest ever champion in British Amateur. The teenager turned professional after he won the Masters in April at the 36th position.
After the praiseworthy transformation, Manaserro holds 9 invitations in his hands which could help him avoid the November’s qualifying school. All he needs to do is to try earning up and about 200,000 Euros. Among the current leaders of the Omega Open round three, Minguel Angel Jimnez, is standing with an impressive minus 14. Jimnez has a three stroke lead over E. Molinari and M. Manassero. The leader holds 6 birdies in hand and stands at ten under 61 along with a couple of eagles.
Manassero tells that his inspiration all along has been Edoardo Molinari. He watched Molinari advance the top like fire breathing dragon and positions his game as the most beautiful one. Molinari’s astounding performance at the Gleneagles, no doubt, is worth to be applauded having finished with a 10 under par 278 at the Johnnie Walker Championship 2010.
Manassero, in round one, never for once made the mistake of handing his one stroke lead to Graeme Storm or Mikko llonen. According to Manaserro, the current game had been more than perfect for him. He explained the word perfect as being able to miss only minimum greens. Manaserro marked it as a perfectly unbelievable day since Storm or llonen never passed minus 6 and he kept his position.
Along with Storm and llonen, Alastair Forsyth’s performance is also worth the praise. The professional golfer form Scotland collected four birdies at 68 with a three under par. Out of the 11 visits Forsyth has taken, this has been his best score. He said that the current course where his game is shining has never been so kind on him. The past has been difficult. He explained that the only reason he is here is because he has gone fairly low in the money list and will do anything to get his tour card.
Out of the nine invitations the seventeen year old Manassero received, this is his 6th. His ability to surpass the halfway cut indicates his exceptional skills as a golfer. All Manassero needs to do is to finish at the top 5 board at the Omega Open, however if this does not happen, then he still has the option of finishing in the top five list of the Dunhill Links Championship 2010 in October.
Considering Manassero’s recent performance in the Omega Tour, he has more chances of winning at The Crans-sur-Sierre golf club than the event due to be held next month judging the presence of Louis Oosthuizen , Edoardo Molinari and Miguel Angel Jimenez running to finish at the top.
Manassero is trying for the European Full Card in the coming year without the qualifying school and it seems he has only two ways. One is to win at the current Omega Event or the Dunhill Links Championship 2010, second is the Kazakhstan’s Open which stands as the second richest event to be held. Manaserro has already proven his calibre at the Omega Tour and one can easily say that Manassero can win the all-riches event.
