My friends neighbor is dead set on killing her beautiful crape mrytle tree in her front yard. He has already killed a small tree in her yard. He is dumping chemicals on the ground around the base of the tree and now the grass is dead. It has slowly gotten worse over a year. What can she do about this? I told her to take some pictures and report it all to her homeowners assocation. What do you think of this?

  1. Heck, I would videotape him doing it and report him to the police for damaging personal property. If the police paid him a visit, I'd bet he'd stop asap. He's just a grown up version of a school yard bully, imho. : (

  2. There are environmental laws on the books that he can be seriously violating. Contact the local chapter of the DEC Dept of Environmental Conservation. Call your town clerk and ask for their number. He can get fined and should get fined. What if a cat or bird should get it in thier mouth. Not to mention those are beautiful trees he is destroying! That chemical can wash into the sewer which can go to the water treatment plant or it wind up in someone's water well.
