  1. I'm just guessing about the shot, but it was probably a cortico-steroid.  These drugs cause a reduction in inflammation, but they can also caus some serious damage to your body.  They destroy tissue and can cause sever immune system problems when overused.  They also increase the time that it takes for many injuries to heal.  Most doctors will only prescribe one "cortizone" shot for a person over a specific period of time, and they won't do it if they feel the risks outweigh the benefits to you.  He may feel that it is better for you to "tough it out" for the shorter period of time than cause a long term problem by over-using a very dangerous drug.

  2. I don't have any substantial suggestions, other than....did you ask the doc why you can't be given the shot again?

Your doctor has an oath to take care of you. If he doesn't take care of you, you then have rights to be released from his care and go elsewhere.

Then you have issues as you described regarding just having surgery, insurance and all that.

The insurance companies are ruining so many things for us in this country. They want us to pay pay pay pay pay, but as soon as we need something for which we've paid for, they refuse.

They cause the doctors to change how they provide their care and so many other things.

I sympathize with you, but as long as we americans allow companies to get away with this kind of thing, it will continue until 'their' greed ruins us all.

  3. You need  to ask your doctor the questions you are asking here.  There may be very good reasons, like what the guy above mentioned, for the decisions your doctor has made.  As far as finding a different physician to take you on, as you have already discovered, that will be difficult.  It is an expectation that the doctor who did the surgery will provide post operative care.  Other doctors will be reluctant to take on a patient under circumstances similar to yours.  Part of the problem, is going to be your attitude, which is summed up in the title to your question.  Believe me, your attitude of assuming that you have received "crappy" care will obvious to other practitioners & they are not going to be anxious to get involved in your care.
