before you say that is a stupid idea think about the crazy speeds that some people drive at and how many people suffer brain damage after accidents. They are compulsory on motor bikes and what difference is there, apart from a windshield, between the two.

  1. The main reason is that your vision will be obstructed and your injuries would be worse if in an accident..........................

  2. Inside a car, there are several safety devices such as seat belts, air bags, collapsible steering columns and the car itself that reduces head injury's. On a motor bike, you are thrown off in an accident, and there are many unknown things you can conk your bean on.

  3. A windshield is the only difference? In case you haven't noticed, cars have four wheels, bikes have two. Bikes must maintain a balance, or the rider can be thrown off. Cars don't.

Look closely at a car and you'll see that the driver has protection on all sides in the form of doors, padding, and metal. Bike riders are literally out in the open.

A bike rider can easily be thrown from the bike even in relatively minor incidents. In a sideswipe accident, the car driver usually gets out to survey the damage; the bike rider can be lying on the pavement. A bike always comes out second best in any collision with a car.

    It's a stupid idea.

  4. Cars do have airbags where as bikes dont have it.

  5. You make no distinction between cars and motorcycles? In a car, you are encased in a steel cage. On a motorcycle, you are out in the open with virtually no protection. Tell you what - why don't you start driving with a helmet on, and who knows...maybe it will catch on.

  6. The comparison is not stupid at all. Especially when you realize that most injuries are to the head.

Note to the other posters: Don't post misinformation as fact just because you don't know. ABS and airbags ARE available on motorcycles.

The answers presented here are typical of the BS used in proposing motorcycle helmet laws.
