Crayfish and guppies?

if i put a small baby crayfish in my fish tank with my small guppies will the crayfish try to hurt my guppies?

  1. i bet your crayfish is thanking you for his delicious guppy snack as we speak! you probably should've researched this before you bought him.  


  2. Crayfish may or may not have any objective on "hurting" guppies, but their nature towards eating almost anything makes them often have a preference for live small fish to be incorporated in their diet.

    I have been told that there are dwarf crayfish that are less of a danger to small fish, just keep a good lid on your tank so that you do not end up with a crayfish in you laundry.

  5. crayfish eat fish, especially smaller ones that are easy to catch.  It has been my experience that crayfish also grow fairly quickly so at first it will probably be ok, but after a few weeks the guppies may begin to shrink in numbers.  Scratch the crayfish, or try bigger tankmates if tank size is permitting.
