I want to catch some cray fish. Give me a run throw on traps, and other things i can use. Where to look for them, and the best way to fish for them. Easy ten points for fishermen.

p.s. if there's any good home made traps tell me how to build, and use them.

  1. use a dip net on a muddy warm water creek

  2. when i was younger i would catch them in ponds with a small hook and piece of night crawler. just wait for them to grab on to it with their claw and slowly pull them up and drop them in a bucket. i would start looking in areas with rocks they like to hide under the rocks.

as for traps i know Frabill makes a crawfish trap.

  3. My brother and I used to catch them in the creek behind our grandparents house when we were kids. It had a wide spot where there was a slow current and rocks on the bed of the creek. All we ever used was an empty mason jar and a stick with a bucket to store them in after we caught them. we'd carefully turn over the rocks until we found one, place the jar behind the crayfish then poke the stick down in front of them (crayfish swim backwards) so they'd swim into the jar. once we caught one we'd put it in a bucket full of water and take them home with us.
