  1. Well, Parakeets aren't the best bird to like play around with or let out.

and if u want to get one out try using a sock and just be really careful when you grab them. U should probably take out only one at a time. And for getting a new parakeet if u want the females to have babies get a male. but if not get a female. Hope this helps!

  2. I wish I could help, but I had the same problem with my parakeets. Whenever I so much as put my hand in their cage, they'd freak out, as you said. I'm not sure that parakeets are capable of chilling out, haha. They're very noisy, hyper creatures. Sorry I couldn't be more help :(

  3. your birds are afraid of you! I am sure you would be scared too if you were their size and a giant monstrous hand came at you and tried to grab you! Almost all new birds(parakeets and others) are afraid when they go to a new environment. They just need time to settle in.

There are many things that can cause fear in birds; loud noises(like a dog barking, etc.) if they feel insecure, they will be afraid. Being insecure means that they don't feel safe in their cage. Things like home decor or something hanging their cage can cause this. Also, birds like it when walls and corners are surrounding them. It makes them feel safer. Being out in the open where they feel they always have to watch out behind them makes them feel scared and unsafe.

Try earning their trust by doing things nice for them. Like giving them treats. And yes, i know you tried this already, but keep trying!! It WILL take time! Also, talk to them A LOT in a calm and quiet voice. Loud, mean voices scare birds!!!! Treat them like you would want to be treated if you were them!

    Good luck!
