Question:

Crazy answers getting voted in Science?

There are some answers out there that are very non-scientific in this forum. I suppose that's freedom of speech, but I find it suspicious that many of these are getting voted as "best answer." Maybe I'm just being closed minded, but it makes me suspicious, especially when particularly weird users consistently get 3 votes. Could that be trolls with multiple accounts voting for themselves? Do we need better moderation in this forum? Should I be reporting suspicious activity, or should I only report clear-cut abuse?

  1. Have you ever looked at the leaderboard?  The top answerer for all of Y!A has on order of 160,000 total answers in a little over two years.  That works out to answering around 10 questions per hour, 24 hrs a day, seven days a week, for two solid years.  So every six minutes, the guy answers a question.  I find that somewhat farfetched and beyond the limits of human patience, but I also recognize that it is of no cosmic significance whatsoever if the guy has cheated to get that many answers.

This is a game, it's not serious.  Report people who are abusive or spamming.

  2. umm i think you just answered your question

  3. Everyone has a different view point. Some may sound crazy.. but some people actually believe what they say. And in their eyes and mind.. there is a reason for their answer.

Unless it is a question that you asked and feel it is inappropriate then maybe you should act on it.

If it is  clear cut abuse... , report it.

But if it is crazy... well there are a lot of crazy people out there that have a right to their opinion.

The Wright brothers were called crazy because they said they could fly.. look at the airline situation now.
