Crazy bird keeps banging into window....?

Question

There is a tree outside of our window at work. This crazy bird stands on a limb and jumps off and bangs right into the window. He picks himself up and goes back up in the tree and jumps off....slamming into the window again and again. The crazy bird did this all day!! We tried putting stickers on the window but he still kept doing it. We tried scareing him away but he just kept coming back. We don't own the property so we can't take the tree down. Any suggestions????????

The bird is reacting to it's own reflection.  So anything you can do to reduce that will help it.  Think of anything you have around that you can put over that window that will reduce that reflection,  Maybe even fabric from the outside, until this phase passes.

    I would also get a wind chime or 2 or 3 ,  to hang outside the window and it will break up the  "scene" the bird sees.  

   You are very thoughtful to care and look for a solution.

It must be near its' nest, or looking for a place  ( maybe your tree)  to build a nest.

Well, u can always keep the window open n' if the CRAZY bird were 2 fly in through the window catch it in a cage or something n' take it far away from ur work n' let it loose.

The bird sees it's reflection in the glass, and thinks the

reflective one is a "predator." As in. They are protective of

their territory, and their nest.

When you look at your own reflection in the mirror in the morn.

What you first see, is your worst nightmare. ~%})~

When a bird wants to come inside he's hard to dissuade. Try taking a couple of those plastic designs that you wet one side of and they stick on glass and put them on the window. In bird language that means don't fly here. The bird may actually dive bomb you in gratitude when you go outside.

The bird is attacking himself.  The other guy keeps attacking, so he does as well.

Pull the blinds and let this guy recover.  

I've seen birds do this often at parks on car mirrors.  They're protecting their territory.

omg i cant stop laughing, thats funny. well obviously its not a smart bird, but try to put a blind over the window.

put paper, posters, pictures,...etc over the window to keep the reflection down so the bird will stop flying into the window.

Birds are often very territorial and will attack perceived rivals. He is probably attacking his own reflection.  We have the same problem at the school where I work.  We have a cardinal that attacks the conference room window, or the Principal's window every day, over and over.  We have tried many different solutions,(including decals, fake owls, hanging reflective surfaces, hanging wind chimes, etc.) but nothing seems to dissuade him.  The only consolation we have is that he has been doing it daily for over four years and he's still going strong.  Either he has a very hard head, or he's already brain damaged.  He used to attack the students until he found his true enemy in the conference room window.  You do get used to it over time.
