Crazy dream help?

Its been a long time since I've had a bad dream and I've had the same one for the past 2 nights. Its kind of like I'm watching myself sleep then all of the sudden I can't breathe and can't move to try and get help. Last night it lasted for about 5 minutes until I was finally able to jerk myself awake. I was out of breath and my body hurt so bad and I couldn't talk to get my boyfriend up so he could help me. The night before he said I quit breathing for a few seconds, but the effects after I woke up weren't as bad as they were last night and he said he didn't notice anything last night. Any ideas of what's going on? Kind of afraid to go to sleep tonight.

  1. Actually sounds like sleep apnea.  Probably dreaming about not breathing because you really can't.  Ever dream about needing to use the bathroom, looking for a toilet etc, not being able to find one, then waking up with a very urgent need to go.  Anyway, sleep apnea is dangerous, had a good friend die of it years ago...he was 18.

  2. Yes i watch Sylvia Browne and what you're describing is astral travel. You're trying to get back into your body, thus you're above your body. Sylvia suggests you pray before going to sleep to God..plz don't let me remember my exit or entries and let them be smooth. I believe it works. Good luck

  3. It's called sleep paralysis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paral...

    It's normal, but it sucks.

  4. huh

  5. If you are continually having this, try to sort out what is going on in real life.  Are you going through a lot of stress?  A person really closed to me suffered sleep paralysis whenever they were stressed to the max.  They would have the scariest nightmares, so scary they did not want to talk about them.  And they were scared to go to sleep.  Once life got better, their nightmares dissipated.  Try to calm yourself down and try to keep the stress at a low level, that should help keep your bad dreams at bay.  Hope this helps!

  6. I agree with a couple people who have already answered: I believe what you are experiencing when you first wake is Sleep Paralysis. The dream itself I believe can be interpreted a few different ways. 1. You may feel that you aren't being heard, that your life is out of your control. 2. You may be experiencing a combination of a bad dream and sleep apnea...although usually you would be told you have quite a snore as well. 3. If you are into the whole astral travel thing...I guess you could be experiencing an out of body experience. Personally, I am leaning towards number 1. Often our minds try to sort out information obtained throughout the day. When we are stressed about certain things such as not being in control or not be able to have a say in something you deem important often it comes out in a distorted way in our dreams. (i.e. feeling of not being able to breathe, looking at yourself from afar) These dreams can be re-occurring until you sort out in your waking life what is disturbing you in your dream life. Often the result of a really scary emotion in our dream come Sleep Paralysis. I wish you lots of luck...sleep paralysis can be really scary.
