Question:

Crazy pain under ribcage!?

So i'm 16 years old, and i have this crazy pain under my left ribcage. Like not on my side, its more towards the front but still on the side.

It started last night before i went to bed. I don't know, it started out of nowhere. I didn't fall down or get punched or anything.

& its still there almost 24 hours later.

It only hurts when i take a deep breath or yawn or sneeze.

It feels like a cramp, but it doesn't go away.

Could this be associated with my spleen, or something.

Thanks a bunch!

  1. This kind of pain you describe can also be associated with gas build up (an example only).

Sometimes gas can get caught around the ribcage making it feel very uncomfortable when yawning or taking a deep breath.  I had something like this happen to me when I was about the same age.  Mine was caused by an awkward position while sitting in a friend's car.

I had the pain stay for a week.  My grandma (who was a nurse) tried to push it out of me and nothing worked.  So when I went to the doctor to have it evaluated and she pushed on the area then it went away.

I would recommend letting your mom know what's going on so that she can help you keep an eye on the situation.
