Create a poem about a fear that you have and how you overcame it?

It came at night whilst I was sleeping,

The dark shadow, chasing, chasing me,

The fear, oh the fear! It's back and we are not safe.

For years it has haunted me,

We are not safe! Run, children, Run!!!

Out of the dark of night he would come to take away

All security.

For all of my childhood I endured the awful dreams,

'til in adulthood I sought refuge at a sacred place,

To learn the ways of dreaming while awake,

In the solitude I heard a voice tell me,

The dream is a test, how well you do is up to you.

So when my rest was broken and he came again to

torment me.

I refused to run, turned around and faced my fear,

And he ran! And though I wanted too,

I did not chase him down.

The test was won, the dream was gone.

To never darken my sleep again.
