Ok, I am in the process of helping create a recycling program for my school. The principal has already asked one of the janitors if he can carry the collected recyclables to the local center, and he agrreed. We are planning on collecting plastic bottles and paper, since that's what we use the most of. I've got everything figured out, except for what to use as a recepticale for the plastics. I looked on the Lowe's website, but the kind of can we would need costs around $45, and that dosn't seem sensible since we need at least three, and they are about to begin construction on a new school. What I'm asking is, is there anything else I could use? I considered a cardboard box, but it would get all mushy outside from the rain and dew and stuff, and would get kicked around too eaisily. It also would be cool if the container was somthing that had beem reused, as to further promote the greenness of our school.

  2. If I were you, I would use a large garbage can like the one your parents put out before garbage day.  They aren't as expensive as recycling bins and you could be creative and paint the recycle logo on it.

  3. get some inexpensive used plastic 55 gallon drums and cut the tops off. You can usually find them for 10 bucks each. I got some from a car wash they get soap in them.

  4. use a garbage can cut a hole in top better yet use a 50 pastic drum cut hole in top  and drill a couple holes in bottom to drain water from rain
