I want to create a website that allows customers to load and retrieve large amounts of video (roughly 45 minutes of video per clip). Does anyone know a service that can handle this or would I have to obtain my own servers? I look for this to be small at first, but as clients multiply I can see this turning into a Youtube type of website - for paying clients only. Really appreciate any suggestions who I might contact or what steps I would need to take. Thanks in advance.

  1. One person trying to replicate Youtube. Unless you have tons of time (Like years) and you know every kind of coding language out there, it would be a near impossible. If you have no experience whatsoever in Web Programming see this beginner article: http://flashcreations-faq.blogspot.com/2...

For video uploads I would suggest something like rapidshare. You can have a script upload all the clips to there. Still it would be a pretty large project. I would suggest buying Youtube form Google over trying to recreate it. :-)

  2. I'm not completely sure about a service or anything but if you are going to attempt to make a website like this make sure you understand the costs before doing it. The reason youtube has shorter videos is because it costs money to have servers storing a ton of video. I would assume that you could pay someone to design a website for you, if you don't have the necessary knowledge to do it yourself, but I would suggest doing the research on this service yourself because making a website like the one you are suggesting is a difficult job. You need to find a service that suits your needs exactly.

  3. You can go to weebly.com or synthasite.com  they are both step by step. I perfer weebly more because of the fact that it gives a graph number thing to show you how many people have visited you site. You can have a domain like: mydomainname.weebly.com or mydomainname.com -- but with this one you have to pay for. They are both like that. It's your decision if you want to pay for the domain name or not.
