I am doing an independent study on creationism vs. evolution, & I need to send out letters to people or organizations who know a lot about either, or both subjects in the USA, preferably in the Texas area. Thank you!

  1. Are you doing your independent study in the field of science or religion?  If this is part of a science curriculum, you have a problem because creationism is not science (even if you call it "intelligent design" or creation science or anything else).  If you are doing this as a part of a religious or spiritual curriculum, you have a different problem because evolution is not a religion.  That is not to say you won't find lots of people on both sides who will tell you lots of things.   Good luck, you will need it.

  2. May I suggest a nearly neutral source - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution

There are a number of references there.

  3. I highly recommend the Clergy Letter Project.

This is an organization centered around the Clergy Letter ... a letter by Christian clergy members endorsing evolution, and the idea that faith and science (including evolution) absolutely can, and should co-exist.

So far, over 11,000 Christian clergy members, have signed the letter.

Their web site is an all-round excellent resource.

One page contains a list of addresses for 566 scientists who are available as resources:

(They are organized by State, and I see there are quite a few from Texas.)

    Good luck!
