Question:

Creation? Evolution?

Is the idea of a God who created all things really rational? Is the idea that we came into existance by the Big Bang rational? Will we believe that a supreme creator created all things, or will we believe in the fact that we are the outcome of a non-ending chain of cause and effects? What do you believe, and why do you believe it?

  1. The idea that a super-intelligent entity exists from nothing and nowhere, for no reason at all, and created a universe, is clearly nonsense.  The universe must have a natural explanation.

  2. I believe in Creation, I believe God created the universe, world and all living things.. and the only thing that science is trying to do is figure out what he did

for example, as a child you know you came from mommy and daddy, but you don't know how exactly it was done.. and that's what science does

certain things don't require evidence, when all it takes is common sense. I didn't need to see evidence to know that that man and women are my parents when I was a child

this world, humans.. everything was constructed to perfectly to be the result of evolution

  3. Isaiah 46:8-10

"Remember this, and show yourselves men:(be men, take courage)

bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.

Remember the former things of old:

    for I am God, and there is none else;

I am God, and there is none like me.

Declaring the end from the beginning,

and from ancient times the things that are not yet done,

saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure."

God is Almighty, All Powerful and God says in Scripture above that He will do as He pleases and His Word, The Holy Bible KJV, will stand.

How best to show all powerful than the creation of the universe.  Have you seen what the Hubble Telescope is showing to us from space?  The Creator does not cease in creating for "In His house are many mansions" and also man cannot even comprehend what "great things that God has in store for us."

Evolution is a dead dog.  I believe in God and His creation.

  4. Answer : Biological evolution is a change in the genetic characteristics of a population over time. That this happens is a fact. Biological evolution also refers to the common descent of living organisms from shared ancestors. The evidence for historical evolution -- genetic, fossil, anatomical, etc. -- is so overwhelming that it is also considered a fact. The theory of evolution describes the mechanisms that cause evolution. So evolution is both a fact and a theory.

    I accept it

  5. The notion that a magnificent universe exists from nothing and nowhere, for no apparent reason is absurd.

There is no way that something came from nothing.

The universe came into existence because God spoke it into existence.

To accuse billions of people of beliving in a fairy tale is also nonsense.

It is very rational to be accountable for our actions to God who said if we are good, he will bless us and if we're bad, he will curse us, and the laws of the universe coincide with what the Bible teaches.

  6. I accept science.

  7. This is like asking which came first the chicken or the egg? Some will say the chicken and others the egg. But something greater than we can imagine had to have created the Big Bang. And the bible clearly states I am the Alpha and the Omega

  8. Someone just wanted an easy way to explain everything.

Then they invented Christianity to get rich quick...

  9. God is the Creator of the universe and the earth.

  10. I'll take the chain, because I don't want to anger any omnipotent beings by implying they did such a sloppy job on life, the universe and everything.

  11. Well, your asking questions on two different topics, here. The first, implied by your title, is about creationism and evolution. I believe evolution because... well, because it's true. There's irrefutable proof for it, and nothing against it.  Some idiot fundies will, of course, demand to see "transitional fossils", or proof for macro-evolution, but these demands only show a complete lack of knowledge on the subject.

The second question is on the origins of the universe, and here you leave evolution behind, because evolution has nothing to do with that. Evolution is only about what happened to life once it was here, not where life originally came from.

To address the second question, however, I believe in the Big Bang theory. Why? It has the most scientific evidence to back it up. Formulea predicted, based on the Big Bang theory, that we would find everything on one side of our planet moving in away from us, everything on the other side moving towards us. Low and behold we did. Because of red and blue shifts, we can tell if the distance between us and a galactic body is moving further or closer. That's just one example the supports the Big Bang theory.

Now, the difference between the Big Bang theory and evolution is that we have empirical evidence, tangible proof, for evolution. For the Big Bang, we have only a theory that matches observation, and prediction, but no other evidence, and, therefore, no proof.

Still, the observations and predictions are more than we have for God creating everything, and so it is far more logical to believe in a theory with some scientific backing than a wild story that completely disagrees with anything else we know.

    Atheistically yours,

    JM Gendron.

  12. The truth of the matter is this... we have been able to roll back our knowledge of the start of the universe to infinitesimally small units of time, but in a Xenoesque fashion we can have not made that leap to the time mark 0:00:00:00:00:00 (and so on). This then leaves our knowledge of what 'started' it open.

Until that is you realise that time is a function of space and asking when did that time begin is as ludicrous as asking where did space begin.

Again that does not preclude a creator though.

Whilst I err on the side of atheism because of the scientific burden of proof I do leave my options open (as any good scientist should).

To people who use the something cannot come from nothing arguement, go and look up virtual particles or zero point energy.

To people who use the first mover arguement see many answer to this question http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...

EDIT - I'm not quite sure what I've said this time that deserves a thumbs down. I've stated a scientific and atheist point of view yet admitted that it also leaves a space for God. Perhaps the thumbs downers were thickos who didn't understand what Preclude meant and thought I was being rude about sky-daddy.

  13. Neither idea has any verifiable evidential proof. The Genesis story was first recorded somewhere around 1500 b.c. or about 3500 years ago.  The idea of evolution is less than 200 years old. The fact that one idea is very old and the other very new does not validate either one.

Many educated (and not) people scoff at the idea  that a supernatural God created everything we see. Mainly because we can not reproduce any part of creation in a laboratory  and the very idea of a divine being just seems like a fairy tale. But, the same is true with evolution. Billions of dollars have been spent to prove this idea with no results. We have accumulated tons of data, and discovered vast amounts of new knowledge. But we can not prove evolution or big bang, or find even one hint of evidence that supports them. Not even 1/10 of 1 % of the money spent on evolution has been spent on creation. Creation is very simple. Evolution is extremely complex.

We see many variations of many animals on earth. Some see these variations as proof for evolution. But this is not true. Yes, animals do change over time- due primarily to environmental factors= food, weather, predatory stresses and so on. Some animals do get isolated and do variate within the limits of that specie. But we will never see a scaly lizard turn into a feathered bird, as evolutionist try to get us to believe. There is absolutely no evidence for this- and never has been.

Now, think just a moment....how many so called pillars of evolution have turned out to be deliberate hoaxes? There are several books written on this subject by well respected scientists.

There are far too many scientist who do not accept the idea of evolution. Variation within a specie is common- but that is not evolution.

  14. Peace and blessings be upon you.

the idea that we came to the world by big bang is not rational ... but the God said that the process of man's creation came on stages.

verse ,surah 71: [14] "`Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages?

It is not logic to say :Non ending chain.

For each creature there is a creator , you can move in series till you reach the creator which has no creator , the creator which is not a creature ,and this is the god.

I believe in that as this is the logic and i can't accept that this accuracy in creation came by concidence.

i believe in evolution which is a development by the action of the God not the evolution which is development by concidence.

the anatomical and physiological similarity between the different creatures also the chemical similarity ,is a big prove that the creator is one, created all the creatures by the same technique by using the same raw material.

The chromosomal map which we discover recently don't accpt a type to come out from another type.

  15. I am one who believes that God did create. The faith I have is a result of being convicted in my heart that I needed supernatural help with a life that was unhappy and without any real peace; then when I tried taking God at His word, He came through with the gift of faith and opened my eyes to the truth. Contrary to what I have read here (in your responses) there is quite a lot of evidence to support creationism.

I challenge you to pick up a copy of "A case for Faith" by Lee Strobel. He was an atheistic journalist who went to the leading proponets of both sides of the issue and personally interviewed them, documenting their exact words plus his conclusions. It is a very clear investigation and discussion on what is real and how it is supported, or not.

  16. The Idea that the Universe came into existence from a Big Bang from the Nothingness is Ludicrous.

Atheist can accept that the Universe the 'happened' but cannot accept that God exist in Eternity, this is because they are spiritually discerned

  17. I don't BELIEVE in evolution I accept it.

Deist with a B.A. Degree in anthropology (Archaeology)

Evolution is a scientific theory and fact.

  18. i dont mind teaching creation in school but not in biology or any other science class its taught in world history in my old school and they teach the judeo-christian version as well as every other creation story of the religions we cover in the class

  19. Any belief regarding our origins must rest on a leap of faith.  The idea that an all powerful creator made everything is more believable to me than that it just happened.  The mathematical probability that any small piece of living matter happened by chance is mathematically 'impossible'. --Less than one chance in 10 to the 140th power.  (and less than one chance in 10 to the 31st is normally accepted as a definition of 'impossible')

  20. Evolution and Big Bang are scientific theories base on evidence. Creationism sometimes CLAIMS to be a scientific theory (under the guise of Intelligent Design) but is nothing more than religious dogma...

Note that the Big Bang and evolution are distinct theories explaining distinct phenomena.

  21. yes it is, The Idea that the Universe juts took place ? From What, and when you answer that, I will ask again and again and again, How did the something come from nothing ?

God exist always, Time itself God created and exist outside of time, so what created the Universe ,

  22. There is evidence for the big bang and none for god.

  23. I think it is an good question, but it also shows in some the lack of creative thinking.

Myself I believe in first creation, and also next in evolution, why, for in the book of Genesis, my understanding is this.

Gen.1:9 God said let the waters under the heaven be gathered together to one place, and let the dry appear: and in another place it was said of God.

Gen. 2: 7 the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground (firmament)

Now to a reasonable or a person of some understanding of the Gospel if the dry or earth and the water were ever together, then when they separated they would contain within themselves the same make-up, then in construction all men would have the same building blocks as in the clay of the potter whether he were building men or animals, some would laugh, but it shall come out in the wash.
