Question:

Creation Vs. Evolution (again)?

Ok, for those of you who answered my previous question, thanks, but i need help again. We are doing a debate on Creation vs. Evolution. I am for creation and this kid that was for evolution asked how it was possible for Adam and Eve to populate the world without having mutated kids because of all the relatives having children together. I need a good (preferably scientific) answer.

  1. It isn't possible.

A gene pool of two would produce horrific genetic abnormailities.

It is actually statistically unlikely that the human race could have survived, and we would certainlyhave a very high rate of genetic disease today. It would make the thalidomide disaster look like a good day at the post natal clinic.

  2. creation = no evidence

    evolution = evidence

  3. There is no scientific answer for your argument. Your argument is based on scripture, not reality.

  4. There is not a single shred of scientific evidence for creationism. Much like there isn't for the tooth fairy.

  5. Tell him God sent micro-leprechauns to correct the base pairs in their DNA.

  6. You can say that they did have mutated kids, which modern scientists now call "dinosaurs," but those mutated kids were all wiped out when God flooded the Earth, and so Noah and his family had to repopulate the world themselves.  But Noah had good genes, so his kids weren't mutants.

    Plus, magic!

  7. The Adam and Eve story is fiction, as we know from DNA evidence [ref. 1].  Since evolution has been the cornerstone of biology for a century because it makes predictions which are correct, every time [ref. 2], and is now also a proven fact, no case of any sort can be made for "creation": every assertion of its validity is necessarily wrong, and need not even be examined except for pedagogical purposes.  There is no viable excuse for anyone not to believe in evolution.

  8. You wont find one. It is true that relatives that have children together, generation after generation will be mutated and have many many health problems. That is why it is illegal to marry anyone closer than a 4th cousin. Evolution ftw.

  9. I suppose you want me to say the most scientific answer of all...."God did it"

Why do you want to debate a "kid" about evolution, talk to a professor, someone who has expertise in biology/evolution, you will learn a lot.

  10. Actually it went to Noah's family of 8 after the flood.  Well, this population existed before the law came.  Once God's law comes into being, He puts a curse in effect.  There was no curse in effect for them multiplying in their own family because the law against it had not yet been given by God.  So they multiplied with everyone staying perfectly fine.

  11.   From Adam and Eve up until the time that the Mosaic Laws were written, marriages within families was acceptable because the genes were still in a more or less pristine state so no mutations were possible and no one thought anything of it. Travel down in time to Moses. The world at that time had gotten progressively more sinful and corrupt thus began to corrupt humanity to the core. Intermarriage was no longer possible because of the mutations caused by the extremely sinful nature of man so God pronounced laws against it thus making it a sin to marry ones own relative. The word we use today is incest.

  12. Science can't explain that either. According to the Out of Africa Theory everyone alive today is descended from one man and one woman who lived around 140,000-200,000 years ago. Either way we're all descended from a pair of people. I think the story of Adam and Eve is symbolic of those two people.

The Genesis creation account shouldn't be taken literally. Did you know Fr. Georges Lemaître (1894-1966) was a Roman Catholic priest who first proposed the Big Bang theory?

<edit> Thumbs down? You mean atheists reject the Out of Africa Theory? Why do athesits hate science so much??? http://www.jqjacobs.net/anthro/paleo/gen...

  13. Inbreeding is still inbreeding genius.

  14. Jared you are a real twinkie. If you had done the scientific research, you would be arguing from the other side of the question.

  15. what?

  16. Creationism= excuses, evolution= evidence.

  17. The scientific answer here is called "evolution".

  18. Evolution has been proven. End of debate. Maybe you should switch sides: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/

  19. Great question, wish I had the answer for you. All I know to say is that if we did all come from Adam and Eve, science tells us that because of interbreeding we would all be deformed and mentally handicapped

  20. That's like asking for a good argument as to why there are 57 squares on a chess board. There is no valid argument that can substantiate a fundamentally flawed premise!

    Duh!

  21. "I need a good (preferably scientific) answer."

    Okay.

We didn't come from Adam and Eve, but rather, a gene pool split, with one part resulting in hominids, and eventually, us, and the other resulting in chimpanzees.
