Question:

Creationists, could you please help me with this small astrological conundrum...?

ok, assuming that the earth and the moon are close to the same age, 6,000 years or so. why are there so many huge craters on the moon, yet only one documented witness? Gervaise of Canterbury beheld such an event about 500 years ago when he witnessed a meteor hit the moon in a fiery explosion. he documented it. however, there are thousands of such craters, yet only one witness.

the big bang theory says that the earth is 4.5 billion years old, and during its youth, say the first 1.5 billion years, there were many such occurrences, which would explain the multitude of craters. however, in the past 2 or so billion years, this happens less frequently.

given this scenario, what would be the reasonable conclusion?

God created the world in six days?

or either God or Nature allowed the universe to create itself in billions via big bang?

  1. Those creationists who claim an age of only about six thousand years for the Earth give creationism a bad name. Your conclusion is much closer to the truth, and a true creationist would certainly agree with you.

The moon like a vacuum? Someone must not have had many high school science classes.

  2. Well for along time somethings were just not as easy to see or just weren't recorded or the records didn't survive. You want to shake my faith try something a little harder.

"Light from millions miles away"  How about "And God said let there be light and the was LIGHT."

  3. can you see the moon for 24 hrs every day? clear sky? no clouds, no dark, no fog???

most people don't spend a whole lot of time looking up at the moon unless they are purposely looking at it...

The universe and all that is how ever old it is...don't matter much to me.

God liked the third rock from the Sun for a particular project, cleaned it up,powered it up, added some water, greens and critters and intelligent(?) humans to take care of things.

when ever it was "powered "up and set to go makes no difference; just be thankful that he did..

  4. God put 'em there to test your faith.

@ Captain Atheism- actually you're wrong, God brought the light closer to earth so we can has more stuffs to look at!

  5. Yes God created the world in 6 days. He is pretty miraculous huh?

  6. There's too much wiggle room for them on that one.  Try this:

Light from distant stars proves the universe is far older than 6000 years.

This cannot be refuted.  They don't like to talk about that one, though.

  7. Neither. It SHOULD be common sense you don't get multiples with one. Monotheism is the most unnatural thing I've ever heard of. Plus, history proves there aren't 'all-powerful', 'omniscient', just or loving deities that have anything to do with world affairs. Face it, we're on our own.

  8. God is testing your faith.

  9. Its actually far, far worse than you stated. The fact that we can see light that comes from billions of light years away shows that the Universe is old enough for that light to have left their sources, and to have traveled the billions of light years, while obeying the natural laws of the Universe.

Creationist IDiots would have to claim that their gawd LIED, in making the Universe appear to be very, very old, while actually only making it all in a very recent time period. Such a deceitful deity would only be worthy of earned scorn, not worship.

  10. He made the moon "look old" in order to test us.

  11. The reason the moon has so many craters is because it doesn't have an atmosphere, and it is like a vacuum for meteors around our earth.  It wasn't because of the first 1.5 billion years.  The moon is younger then that.  But you are correct that 99% of the craters are older then 6,000 years.
