  1. creationists are religious fundamentalists who read Genesis and believe evry single word LITERALLY ... fro them the worls is about 5500 years od and science is blasphemy ....

Evolutionists are scientists who believe the discoveries of modern science such as geology, paleontology, biology , mordern discoveries in DNA and the like are the real deal .

Not one Creationist is a scientist respected by his scientific peers .... they are blinded buy religous ambiguity and unable to understand that there is no conflict between science and the bible ....

  2. Creationists do not take the Bible 'literally'. They take it in the context it is written in. Thus, Genesis is taken as history since it is written in the Hebrew as a historical account - wuite different to poetry.

Your question is far too wide ranging to answer in one hit.

Those that claim that creation is 'pseudo science' do not understand what the debate is really about. (Or deliberately mislead.)  All ideas about the past are based on interpretaions of evidence that everyone shares in the present. Ideas about origins are not subject to the scientific method (observation, test, repeat, etc). Noone was there. Creationists and evolutionists interpret the same evidence in very different ways, with different assumptions and different worldviews.

Take a careful look at the claims of each and see which stacks up best against the actual evidence.

There are many articles putting forward the creationist position at this web site - and many more that refute the evolutionist interpretation.

EG a whole section on dinosaurs:http://creationontheweb.com/content/view...

Those that think the dinosaurs died out millions of years ago are perhaps unaware of the large amount of evidence indicating that they lived recently alongside man.

There are many written accounts and depictions of dinosaurs.

Remember that the word dinosaur was invented in 1841. Before that people used names like dragon.

People from all over the world have accounts of dinosaurs: the Chinese who have incorporated it into their lunar calendar, The Welsh who have the dragon in their flag; The account of the Saxon Beowolf; The native american thunderbird; and other stories from many other nations. The Romans even made mosaics of them.

Furthermore, dinosaur fossils have even been found containing blood cells - hardly 65 million years old.

But check the evidence for yourself - don't by brainwashed by dogmatic evolutionists who don't want us to think for ourselves :)

And to refute the first poster - there are many highly qualified scientists who are creationists!

In the past, many of the greatest scientists of all time have been creationists: Newton, Maxwell, Kepler, Kelvin, Faraday, Bacon, Pasteur, Babbage, Pascal, Linnaeus, etc.http://creationontheweb.com/content/view...

Sadly many promoters of evolution are ignorant of the facts and use very poor arguments to try and persuade them of their own 'religion'.

  3. Creationism is a pseudo-science. No actual credentials or degrees are required, to sermonize their religious fervor...

Evolutionary biology is actual science, which involves theory based on proven scientific discoveries in anatomy, physics, paleontology, chemistry, geology, astronomy, biology, etc..

  4. Creationists believe that the universe as we know it, including the life that exists on the Earth, was intentionally created.

Evolutionists believe that the processes of evolution guide the fates of species and can be used to understand the development of life on this planet.

Strictly speaking, these two schools of thought intersect only tangentially. Evolution says little, if anything, about the actual origins of life, and it says nothing at all about such things as the origin of the universe or the planet Earth, or even the existence of a God, if you want to get picky. Evolution has a much more serious bone to pick with Intelligent Design, which is only a small part of the whole Creationist scheme of things.

The real fighting stems from the fact that Evolution has a lot of vocal atheists backing it, while Creationism has a lot of vocal Christians (mostly) backing it. The real fighting happens when these people use the differences between Evolution and Creation to magnify the differences the actual groups of people have with each other. Most of the argument and dischord between Creationists and Evolutionists comes from ideaological differences that feed into the differences between the two theories, not the differences themselves. Frankly, it's just a big pissing contest.

Evolutionism and Creationism aren't strictly incompatible, and on many issues they have absolutely nothing to say about each other. Evolution is certainly more firmly grounded in science and the scientific method, but it's not like Creationists are unaware of how the rules work. In general, they don't deny the scientific explanations of the processes at work, they just discern a deeper meaning behind all that.

    So to answer your questions...

Evolution itself has nothing to say about the Big Bang Theory, and not a lot to say about the Flood (though geology might). Evolution provides a good understanding of the origins of dinosaurs, and how when they hit their decline, and what they eventually evolved into.

Creationism might be fine with a Big Bang, but they'd certainly see it as an intentional act of God (or whoever). Honestly, the Flood and Dinosaurs will get you different answers. Some Creationists are going to be ok with the geological timescale that science places on the evolution of life on Earth, some are going to say that the Earth is 6000 years old and that the dinosaur skeletons were crushed (and fossilized, I guess) by the enormous pressure of the flood waters over the Earth.

I can’t speak for religious or fundamentalists so I will answer for the average, non-religious person.

Big Bang, short answer: astronomers (Hubble) discovered that the Universe was expanding. Logic dictates that if something is observed to be expanding it must, at some point in the past, have been smaller than it currently is. There is theory with lots of complicated math that so far has borne up under scrutiny.

The flood: there was a flood and a very big one. It occurred around modern Turkey when the last glaciations began to recede about 13,000 years ago. As the ice sheet that covered most of what we call Europe began to melt and give back ground that had been under as much as a thousand feet of solid ice, the land changed.

At one point near modern day Istanbul, a weakened land bridge gave way to the pressure of the Mediterranean sea. This bit of land had been compromised by the ice and when the ice melted, the Med came crashing through creating a body of water we call the Black Sea. Back 13,000 years ago there was but a small fresh water lake just north of what we call Istanbul. When the Med came crashing through the shore line of the little lake rose about 1.5 ft per hour until the Black Sea was born. This event was enough to cause flood sagas in every tribal culture in the entire of Mesopotamia. The biblical flood is but one of thousands of such stories. It is probably copied from the Mesopotamian tale we call, the Saga of Gilgamesh.

Dinosaurs are not mention anywhere in the bible because the writers had no idea that such a thing ever existed.

If we look closely enough we do not need to assign explanations of events which confuse us, to imaginary beings, all we have to do is expand our knowledge sufficiently and discover the truth.

  6. The big bang has nothing to do with evolution. The flood has absolutely no evidence in its favor. The dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago. Go here and learn something real.
