Creative Cause and I’ll Have Another to gear up for the Del Mar Futurity Stakes on 7 September.
The 2-year-old Mike Harrington trained colt, Creative Cause would love to keep his so far unbeaten run intact when he goes in to extend his winning streak from 2 to 3 in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity Stakes on 7 September, 2011 at Del Mar.
The young sprinter broke his maiden at Hollywood Park over at a distance of five furlongs under jockey R Bejarano.
The colt bolted from the gates and kept on running from the start to the finish without losing the lead to down his rivals Bling Cha Bling and Fit to Rule while he clocked a quick time of 56.90 seconds.
However, his next start after the maiden was of top importance, the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes. The distance was slightly above the maiden distance, at 6 ½ furlongs, but it didn’t really matter to the speedy colt as he clocked in 1 minute and 15.62 seconds
for 6 ½ furlongs and won the race by 1 ¾ lengths.
The ultra-impressive colt who was given the 98 Beyer Speed Figure when he broke his maiden at Hollywood Park displayed an eye catching performance at Del Mar under jockey R Bejarano and defeated his closest rivals I’ll Have Another and Mighty Monsoon.
I’ll Have Another, the second place finisher in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes is also pointed to the $250,000 Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity on 7 September, 2011.
I’ll Have Another was valiant in defeat in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes as he ran a spirited race under jockey Joel Rosario, but fell short of the winning Creative Cause.
Both colts have come out of the race fine, and recovered from the post race rigors successfully, and so their next starts are already decided for them based on their fitness.
The Best Pal was a very fast race, and the likes of Majestic City and the Best Pal rival/runner up I’ll Have Another will make the Del Mar Futurity fast as well, so Creative Cause has to train well ahead of the race to maintain his 98 Speed Beyer Figure
which dropped to 88 in the Best Pal Stakes.
