Creative Cause declared as the 9 to 5 favourtie, but Majestic City becomes the local favourite sent at 5 to 2 second choice for the Del Mar Futurity
7 September, 2011, will mark the closing day for the Del Mar meet, but the Grade 1 $250,000 Del Mar Futurity will be the feature race on closing day and an adequate end to the Del Mar season.
It is all set to be an interesting showdown between Majestic City and Creative Cause, with the supporting cast featuring the debut winner, Gun Boat.
The 2-year-old Giant’s Causeway colt, Creative Cause, is sent out as the 9 to 5 morning line favourite to win the race, however, the actual favourite will be determined by the pari-mutuel wagering.
It goes without saying, that when it comes to determining the local favourite, the people’s choice would definitely by the 2-year-old son of City Zip, Majestic City, who might turn out to be the second choice favourite and sent as 5 to 2 morning line favourite.
Majestic City has had an early start to his career opposed to Creative Cause, going in to racing and breaking his maiden on 21 May, 2011, at Hollywood Park with a distance of 4 ½ furlongs on synthetic surface, clicking in 51.27 seconds.
On the other hand, Creative Cause got a maiden special weight opportunity later than Majestic City, and with that he has also run a race less than Majestic City, 3-2 to Majestic City.
Creative Cause broke his maiden on 16 July, 2011, over a distance of 5 furlongs, also at Hollywood Park’s synthetic surface, with a winning time of 56.90 seconds.
Both colts are still undefeated, with Creative Cause 2 of 2 in as many starts and Majestic City 3 of 3.
Trained by Peter Miller for Bloom Racing Stable, Majestic City won the Willard Proctor Memorial right after he successfully broke his maiden.
After that he won his first graded stakes' win in the Grade 3 Hollywood Juvenile Championship, over a distance of 6 furlongs.
On the other hand, Creative Cause after breaking his maiden was included in the Grade 2 Hopeful Stakes, and the juvenile colt came out victorious at Del Mar, over 6 ½ furlongs' synthetic surface.
