Creative Cause retired to stud at Brereton and Elizabeth Jones' Airdrie Stud
Throughout his 2 years in racing, Creative Cause has been a dominant figure among his division, both as a juvenile and a sophomore, and the grade 1 winner is now retired to perform his stud duty Brereton and Elizabeth Jones' Airdrie Stud near Midway, Ky.

The 3-year-old, now retired, colt has raced under the colours of his owner Heinz Steinmann and produced career earnings of $1,309,000, and had been trained by Mike Harrington throughout his career.
Creative Cause started his racing career in winning style, and went on to land his 5 furlongs maiden race at first asking over Betfair Hollywood Park’s cushion track, and then immediately over Del Mar’s All-weather track downed the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes.
As a juvenile by Giant’s Causeway, Creative Cause was becoming a 2-year-old sensation only in his third start, when he narrowly finished second to Drill in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity Stakes, but returned to winning ways in the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita Park.
Bred in Kentucky by James Weigel, Creative Cause concluded his juvenile season with a third place finish to Hansen in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs.
Started his 3-year-old campaign with another 3rd place finish in the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes over Santa Anita’s dirt course at seven furlongs, but revisited the winner’s circle at Santa Anita in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes over a stretched out distance of 1 1/16 miles.
On the Triple Crown trail, Creative Cause finished second in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby eventual Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, I’ll Have Another by a nose. To I’ll Have Another he finished fifth in the Kentucky Derby, and he wrapped up his racing career with a third place finish in the Preakness Stakes.
"I couldn't believe more strongly that Creative Cause is as good a stallion prospect as we've put in the Airdrie stallion barn," said Brereton Jones. "He is the absolute total package. He's a grade I winning millionaire, by a grade I-winning millionaire that's a perennial leading sire, and out of a grade I-winning millionaire that beat Ashado in the Apple Blossom (gr. I)."
