Creative Cause turns in a six furlong work ahead of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs
The 2-year-old juvenile Breeders’ Cup prospect Creative Cause, worked at Hollywood Park alone with a six furlong work on 18 October, 2011, where he continued his progress toward a start in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs on 5 November,
2011.
The work was done under the watchful eye of trainer Mike Harrington who said it was a maintenance workout session, and he believes that Creative Cause does not need a lot, because according to the conditioner the juvenile colt is doing just fine.
Before the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile start, Creative Cause is scheduled to have two more workouts at Hollywood Park through the end of the month and will be shipped to Churchill Downs on 1 November, 2011.
Owned by Heinz Steinman, Creative Cause has done well for his connections in his debut season. The son of Giant’s Causeway broke his 5 furlong maiden at Hollywood Park on 16 July, 2011, over the Hollywood Park’s synthetic surface.
Under jockey R Bejarano Creative Cause, completed the distance in 56.90 seconds, and in the process defeated Bling Cha Bling and Fit to Rule who finished second and third, respectively.
The Del Mar meet was a successful one for Creative Cause, as he landed his first graded stakes race in the shape of Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes at Del Mar on 7 August, 2011.
Over at six and a half furlongs, Creative Cause completed the distance over the synthetic surface in 1 minute and 15.62 seconds, as I’ll Have Another and Mighty Monsoon filled up the second and third positions.
The Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity was next for Creative Cause, as Drill didn’t give him any room to progress till the end, which resulted in Creative Cause’s first defeat as he finished second in the race ahead of the third place finisher Majestic City on 7 September,
2011, at about seven furlongs.
His first start on dirt and a stretch in distance proved to be conducive for the juvenile colt, as he bagged the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes with ease, which was run at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita Park.
