My sister-in-law just got engaged to a guy we really don't know. I wanted to send a creative little gift to congratulate them, but I'm having a hard time coming up with something....any ideas???

  1. Try some nice wine and cheeses in a basket. It's great for them to toast each other with at home alone or on a picnic together.

  2. you could send them a champange basket

  3. I really like the wine and cheese idea. Or just think of a cute date and buy the materials for it. Maybe movie tickets and a restaurant gift certificate? A couple's massage to relax before all the stressful planning begins?

My fiance and I recently got engaged, and we actually registered before our engagement party because family members wanted to get us gifts, and wanted to get us stuff we wanted. Do they have a registry yet? Maybe you can find out where they want to register, and then get them a gift card to that store?

I know one thing we both wanted was a picnic basket and cute little appetizer plates for picnics, but we couldn't find a nice one at the stores we registered for ... that would be a cute idea as well.

Do they have a dog? Maybe a doggie t-shirt that says, "My mom and dad are getting married!" Someone sent me a link to a doggie t-shirt online store after we got engaged (we have a little yorkie mix).

Hope that helps to get the juices flowin'! It's very generous of you to want to get them a gift. You're a great sister-in-law.

  4. what about creating an experience for them to enjoy ( ie... a couple massage) or taking them out so you get a chance to know her finace better (ie... for brunch, to a sporting/ arts event)
