Question:

Creative Potty Training Solution?

My 2 (almost 3) year old was making great progress in potty training until about a week ago. Because of my husband's job we are spending the summer in a different city and have been here about 4 months. I potty trained him here because it is uncertain when we will go home and he is definitely ready ability-wise. He was down to 1 or 0 accidents a day and then suddenly has accidents almost every time. We went back home last weekend and in the 24 hours we were home, he had 0 accidents, I didn't even ask him to go, he just went on his own. As soon as we were back in this house, he went back to all accidents all the time. He is able to do everything on his own, I don't want to put him back in diapers when I know he is totally able to do this. What are some solutions to make him feel ok about going to the bathroom here?

  1. This is common....with moves or stressful situations for children.  I was potty training my daughter and we moved...I just let her set the pace and didn't act frustrated...she eventually leveled out.  Try pull-ups (I once refused to do this, too) and eventually it will just happen.  Just don't stress them out or get upset, that's the worst thing you can do, it will make the situation worse.

  2. My daughter whos potty training now hasnt had the move stress but plenty of others to effect her training schedule so this is what we have done. We ask like every hr on the dot for her to try and if she goes she gets a sticker for her potty progress chart and a "I did it" sticker for her shirt shes wearing for the day. So far I got he several times a day about 3 days of the week and this has been going on for a month now. Give it a try but im sure its the fact hes not at HIS  home where hes safe and the strange atmosphere is kinda funking his routine. Good luck keep at it and praise praise praise him  til your blue in the face..lol works for mine

  3. tell him to "make bubbles"

put cherios in the toilet and have him "sink the ships"

  4. Place newspapers around the house. If the little bundle of joy misses, then give a little swat on the snout. Worked for me, I hardly ever go where I'm not suppose to
