Question:

Creative Soundblaster software install error...????

I previously install Soundblaster 5.1 to my old pc...which I gave to my nephew..but I still have the install CD.

I wanted to install the Creative software (MediaSource..) which allows you to record, not just "rip" audio to pc.

When I ran the .exe, I got an error saying that "Soundblaster hardward not found"

I really don't want to buy another soundcard...but only want the software..

Is there a way around this??

  1. Are you saying that the PC you are trying to install the Creative software to doesn't actually have a Soundblaster soundcard installed? This is what i gathered from what you stated - You installed soundblaster 5.1 on your nephew's PC and now you want to use it's software package on yours without a soundblaster soundcard installed..is that right?

If that's the case you won't be able to install creative software if Creative hardware isn't present. The software that comes with your soundblaster only works if soundblaster hardware is present. So the installer checks your hardware configuration to ensure that you actually have the hardware first before anything is installed. Otherwise it shuts down. There isn't any way around it that i can find.
