Creative ideas for easter gift for diabetic niece?

my niece is 8 and diabetic. this year i want to get all my nieces and nephews (8 of them) easter gifts but not the traditional candy since it can't be enjoyed by all

she can have candy.  they make tons of sugar free candy now. and it is good tasting.   My father is diabetic and I get him a sugar free chocolate rabbit every year.   You can get them at most stores now.  I know Walmart and Target both carry lots.

I do not buy easter candy for my kids.  I usually get them an outfit, some books a game, and some small toys to fill there baskets.

Hi there.  Great question!  If you haven't done so already, be sure to post this under the Diabetes section as well to get more replies and suggestions.

My daughter is diabetic as well and this will be the first "real" Easter since she was diagnosed last year right around then.  I would suggest things like bubbles, lip gloss for the girls (depending on age), books, Play Doh or Silly Putty, temporary tatoos, coloring books, a small craft, pretty hair bands, Hot Wheels cars, etc..  You could also include like one or two pieces of candy that have the carbohydrate information on them to make it easier for her to calculate her insulin.

if you really want to get candy, you could. i'm insulin resistant and 15, and i have to try and watch my sugar. there's tons of sugar free candy out there. gertrude hawks is the best if you have one where you are. it doesn't taste bad either. i wouldn't eat it if it was bad. most of the time, you can't even tell the difference.

there are many other things out there, these are just a few. if you do not want to get her candy though, get her a dvd and an outfit.

You could make a basket and fill it with chalk, silly putty, a jump rope, watercolor paints, a stuffed animal, socks, jewelry, bubbles, etc...

jewelry in the eggs some with coins and money, small stuffed animals holding gift cards. fruit,individually wrapped snacks,stickers,hair asseries,a one time use camera and scrap-booking supplies, write little notes on balloons you blow them up but don't tie them when your done let the air out make a treasure hunt on the balloons to find the baskets.
