Many of us moms don't have the luxury (for one reason or another) to be able to comfortably pay all of our bills when they are due and go on with our lives not thinking twice about it. So, my question is-- What is your creative way to bring extra cash into the household whether it is $5 or $250?

For me:

Ebay: I sell Bradley's clothes, toys, etc. that he outgrows or no longer uses. Also, anything I find in our house we no longer use or need that I feel will sell. In the past 6 months I have made $380.

  1. I watch a friend's little girl a few days a week. I make $100 a week to watch her and on days her brother stays, I make an extra $25 a day to watch him.

  2. I'm thinking of starting a home staging business.  I have always been really good at decorating and recently purchased a new home.  I was amazed as to how people present there property's.  There is no thought as to how the house shows to buyers.  I think the best thing us Mom's can do is take something we love and do well, and figure out how to make money with it.

  3. how about ironing - you either love it or hate it and the people who hate it will pay someone else to do it

someone I know made cakes - they were iced and had landscapes painted in food colouring on top and were really different,. She made different sorts as well - special to order cakes - for which you can charge a premium.

once you master something and word gets out you can be quite successfull so long as you charge an amount that actually gives you a reasonable profit.

  4. I shop!! Its the best. If you have a little spare money you could do this. i just look for REALLY GOOD deals on anything I know is in demand. Then I sell it on eBay or even Craigslist. When the new Nike outlet opened here, we bought Nike for 30-50.00 and sold them on eBay for 50-120.00. You just gotta know what people want. It works for me. I dont sell Nike anymore but, I found something else that works just as well. If anyone needs help figuring out what to sell, feel free to ask. I know alot about eBay.

  5. I am making handmade dolls and selling them on Ebay (once I make enough of them to list).  Also selling them at a local farmers market next year, and selling them online.  I call them Dread Dolls, everything is hand sewn and handknit by me.

  6. Great question :)

Thanks for the link, I'm defiantly going to look into that!

My husband has 2 websites that he makes commission off of. From the advertising and if you buy something from  amazon.com (a link on the website), he'll get commission off that as well.

    AND

    http://www.parentalsite.com/

It is very time consuming to build/update the websites, but he loves it.

Just an idea - sell old pieces of jewelry. The price is gold is very high right now, you can make a fortune.

  7. I use my sewing and cooking to make extra money.  Make sure you get paid at least half and make sure the person pays.  Since our kids have grown and left the nest, some people pay me for even taking care of plants because they see how well I take care of my own.  Selling good gently used baby clothes is great!  I also do hair and it is fun and makes good money.  My husband is an attorney and I still like being independent.   I also do research to help him.   There are many creative ways to make some extra money.
