Creative ways to document my last days here/new days there?

In 4 weeks im moving from Indiana, the armpit of the universe to Florida, where I have a new beginning and a LOT of promise waiting for me. I've never moved more than a block from my childhood home, and this will only be the second move of my entire life.

This is gunna be an amazing experience, and I want to do something creative before I go to remember the before and after.

Something like film my last 3 weeks here, and my first 3 weeks there...but that seems kinda boring. I need suggestions of ways to make this more interesting...Make it an art project that I can put up on the net.

This is litterally a once in a lifetime chance for me..Im going from grey skies, to bright blue sunny days.

I was thinking of making a livejournal to document the whole thing, but what exactly should I document? Video or pictures? Funny or serious?

Any ideas? It doesnt nessicarily have to be video...And it doesnt really have to be pictures either. I just want to make it interesting.

  1. I find walking around a place with a digital camera and finding what I want to record - just starting helps. The first thing will take you on to the next. Keep asking yourself questions like why did my feet bring me here if you have a digi recorder to talk into it can be more immediate.

Ask yourself "what am I thinking feeling dong right now? - Where do I go next.?

Try not to fit yourself into a stereotype like saying goodbyes unless that is really what you feel moved to do - follow your own internal voice and feelings. And follow metaphors - this experience is like.......

Treat yourself as someone  who already internally knows exactly what to do for ease and comfort and healing adn then follow yourself closely. If you feel like dancing for joy record that/or if your feet drag. You may want to do some artwork collage photomontage of your own tht expresses your journey bridging two separate parts of your life.

be real and spontaneous and it will be stunning

  2. what a great feeling and how excited you must be! to me this sounds like the documentary may be about your life. i'm sure your alittle frightened moving away and all. you are leaving behind everything you know and love. so instead of making it entertaining, maybe make it with a sense of nostalgia. find the beauty in your hometown...people places things ...you shouldn't leave there thinking of it as a terrible experience or you will carry that with you. it's good that you are ready to get started on it now or else you might wait til the last day and suddenly get hit by a kind of homesickness when the memories start flooding in but it's time to go.
