Creative ways to recycle and make money?

What are some creative ways to recycle old things found at thrift stores and yard sales and make money? Ive been using my old magazines and making collages from the pages but I have had no luck making any money from it. Any other ideas, tips or tricks?

not so much thrift stores, but collecting aluminum and other metals people throw out at the curb you can take to get money for.

Since you mention thrift stores I offer this, in some abstract sense of $$$ perhaps. Certainly it takes $$$ to make them, in my example, and probably some artistic or carpentry skills.

  How you "SELL" anything might be more the challenge.

  For many years as a Props Master, I was required to do the deed. I often used thrift shops for "furnishings" set pieces, for on stage performances. That same task might be worked into a business venture.

  An old, half circle table, became a Black base, Tiger striped object, with a fabric covered, center insert, in matching fabric. Larger tables became Tile inlay pieces, refinished. Chairs can be rehabilitated. Picture frames decorated and embellished. Household water pitchers can become pots for flower arrangements. Smallish tiles can become Trivets, etc. etc. etc. OLD flatware can become wind chimes, Old multi light window frames can become a "primitive" type Mirror.

   Essentially JUNK can become treasure, as is quoted in an old SAW,,, One mans..... is anothers.........
