I am looking at this dresser, because it seems like a good deal and I need a big dresser for my daughters (3 and 5) to share. Do you think this could be transformed to a kids dresser? Any ideas?

  1. I think as-is it's kind of big, dark and chunky for young kids.  If you decide to paint, I'd give it a white/cream and antiqued look and use the little glass k***s that look like antique glass door k***s.

  2. You could definitely transform it into a kids dresser!

This site has a really good "how to" and a good inspiration page with examples.  They only use a sander, but you might want to look into a liquid stripper b/c it will make the sanding/stripping process a lot easier.

I absolutely LOVE Mackenzie Child's stuff.  The different pattern/color combinations they use are so cute and I absolutely love their ceramic k***s (that dresser refinished in white with mix of painted ceramic k***s would be adorable)

  3. OH my goodness, it's beautiful...why change anything?  I'm thinking by time they get older you'll just be changing it to be "more grown" anyways, so why not just leave it?!?! Although you can always paint it and add appliques.

  4. Yes, I think it would make a suitable dresser for your kids. It's low enough that if someone climbs on top, it won't tip over on them. It has many drawers, enough for two to share. It's classic, so you can leave it alone and it would be pretty, or you can paint it white and change out the hardware if you want it to match decor. I'd get it! Good luck

  5. I'm going to be honest.  Right now, no, it does not look like a dresser for young children.  Now that's not to say that eventually it won't be a children's dresser.  However I am a firm believer in recycling products.  So why not buy the dresser and turn it into something that you really love.  Take that old dark stain off and re-stain it a lighter color or paint it white!  Take off the unfriendly k***s and replace them with cute k***s like flowers or just a really clean silver k**b.  That's the best way to do a custom look, plus your daughters will love it because it's something that Mommy did.  Don't be afraid to get creative!

  6. Wow, that is a great deal!  I would sand it and paint it whatever color your girls like.  Or even do two colors.  Maybe one likes pink and the other purple?  Paint the base pink and do the drawer fronts purple.  Change the handles to something "girly" and you'll have a beautiful dresser they can use now....and grow into!  Nice find!!!!

  7. Its a nice dresser I wouldnt change it at all it looks like a dresser for children of all ages
