  1. OMG in this world of identity theft, you willingly let someone steal your identity. Your credit could be in a world of hurt sorry not a wise thing to do. If fact far from wise, as you are now responsible for his rent and anything else he does. Dude get out of this before you end up paying a high price. And never, never do this again. And as other posters have stated you have indeed committed fraud

  2. as long as he does not get evicted i would guess that your credit will be fine

  3. I take it that you allowed your friend to use your identity to rent the apartment.  This means almost the same thing as if you rented the apartment and let your friend stay there.  For example, if you friend does not pay the rent, you will have to pay it.

Additionally, your "friend" might have used the license and social security number to apply for loans and credit cards, without telling you.

Loaning this was a very bad idea.

By the way, the apartment manager should have noticed that the photograph on the driver's license did not look like the person renting the apartment and refused to allow that person to rent (the license and social security number could have been stolen).

  4. If the apartment was rented in your name on the basis of your credit, you are guilty of fraud, even if nothing happens. The credit bureaus now have a rental or lease in your name and SSN, so any problems your friend has with paying the rent or just using the information you provided to get additional credit will get you into additional fraud and debt problems, Check your credit reports (you can get 1 free each year from ech of the big 3 - go to www.annualcreditreports.com). Have your friend change the apartment to his own name and SSN. And never do such a dumb thing again.

If a friend will break the law to get you to help him, what makes you think he will not feel free to break the law again using your info?

  5. Are you nuts?  BAAAADDDDDD IDEA!
