  1. That means you have a credit on your account meaning somewhere along the line you overpaid the balance you owe....so the - $8.54 is money they owe you!!!

I know it seems negative or like you owe them but in the accounting world --- what would otherwise be seen as a negative (-) is a positive (+)....so this is good news....so what you can do now is you can

    a) request for a check in the amount of $8.54 to be mailed or

    b) if you are using your card and didn't pay it off the - $8.54 will be applied to your next statement which will decrease the amount you owe

Example:  Say you bought somehting for $100.00 and your statement would show you owe only $91.46  because the credit of -$8.54 has been applied to your balance

FYI What "berrygrl2004" is referring to is going overdrawn on something like a checking account but in terms of a credit card you can't go overdrawn --- you just above your credit limit

which would cause a overlimit fee

    Hope I've helped

  2. That is an overpayment and/or a refund...so it's what's available outside of your normal credit limit.....this won't increase your current limit. So if you don't use it within a month or 2 the card company will send you a chque for $8.54

  3. It means you have spent more than your available balance. Many credit card companies will charge a fee for going over your available balance.

Also, there may have been a fee charged by your credit card company for the "priviledge" of having the credit card. If this fee puts you over your available balance the statement will show a negative balance.

  4. That's kind of good news.  That's a credit balance and they owe you the money.  You must have received a credit from them for some reason.  I would just leave it there and it will be absorbed when you charge something over that amount.

  5. You have that much money on your account to spend because you returned something and it didn't show up until the next billing.  You can keep on charging and they will take that off before you are billed the next time.  If you don't use the card again, they should automatically send you a check.  You can always call them and tell them if you want that money back.  This has happened to me a time or two.  I've usually spent the money before the next bill arrives because I use the charge for almost all purchases.

  6. you over paid by that much
