  1. Contact them, in writing to close and deactivate the account.  You're still on the hook for the $19.  They truly love their fees and since you have an account (not their problem you didn't activate the card, they did activate the account) you now have the fee.

  2. Pay it/

  3. The annual fee is independent of your usage of the card. It's part of the contract that you agreed to. It's not like you didn't know you would attract the fee, you just seemed to think it wouldn't happen till activation.

Honestly, you don't want to mess up your credit over just $19, if you're really broke, borrow it from someone just to get it paid and then close the account. And just a word of caution, opening and closing acounts is not great for your credit score. If I were you I'd just pay the fee and leave the card there so at least you can recoup the points you lost on your credit score just from applying 5-10 points.

    Cheers!

  4. You must have signed an agreement of some sort, so you're stuck.

It looks like Capital One is in YOUR wallet!!!

  5. The annual fee was stated in the terms and features of the card. Even though you did not activate it you had to have seen  that you will be billed the fee initially. Plus if you applied on line you have to check the I agree or accept these terms boxes to even continue with the application and over the phone they should have read it to you. I agree borrowing the money would be wise and pay the fee and just keep the account open to save yourself another hit on your credit.

  6. The question is, did you fill out any kind of paper or online credit application for this specific card? that is really the only way you can even recieve a card in your name.  these credit card ompanies are very tricky and will do anything to snatch a potential customer. from what i have read, you might have done this not knowing and now you have a credit card. and if you did, then you do have  credit card that you now owe a $19 annual fee simply because that credit has been opened in your name.
