Question:

Credit Card Signature?

Okay, so I just got a reloadable credit card that my dad got me for camp, and I signed it like I was supposed to but...

The first time I signed it, the signature got messed up and smeared (and it wasn't that good to begin with seeing as I was pushed a bit by accident)...

So I managed to get rid of a lot of the smear, but you can still see the old signature. And I resigned it, but it's still not the same as the first time and all (even if it's really similar).

Will I get into trouble if I try to use the card still and they check my signature?

  1. I don't know how old you are, but if the retail store can't verify the signature on your card, they will ask for a picture ID.  DL's have a picture and your signature.

  2. some places- mostly clothing department stores such as sears, macy's or JcPenny's will check for ID, if your name is printed on the front of your card, i think you should be ok. a lot of places don't even look at the back of the card

and some places don't check for ID such as gas stations, walmart, target

what you could do, is maybe try to smear as much off as you can, and then resign the back of the card, don't use a gel pen, those smear easily

maybe you can find a fine point sharpie pen
