Credit agency has my wrong SS number

I tried to get my free credit report from transunion and it cant confirm my identity. My credit company recently told me they had my social security number wrong. How to i tell them they have my SS number wrong? I cant get to my online report to report a dispute

  1. Call them at 1-888-397-3742 and ask them what you need to do.

    I suspect they will want a certified letter mailed to them, with a copy of your id and ss card. They have a DISPUTE section on the website.

    You should try to file a dispute notice online.


  2. Send them a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt and include a photocopy of your driver's license and social security card.

    State: I am requesting my annual free credit report as specified under federal law


  3. Then do it in writing.  Type a letter, and send it to TransUnion, Experian, and any other credit agency you can find that has the error.
