  1. Why do you need credit at 18?

If you don't have cash you do not need it.

Credit should only be used for significant purchases - not a hamburger and fries.

That is what is wrong with the US. Everybody wants to spend today, and pay tomorrow.  Unfortunately - tomorrow never seems to come.

Don't be a new slave for the Bank.

Want to see what excessive borrowing is doing to this country - go read the first chapter of this book at the following link:

If you absolutely insist on a credit card - a pre-paid is what you are going to have to do first.

  2. Do NOT EVER get a credit card.  You do not need one to establish credit.  You can establish credit by paying rent on time for two years once you are out on your own and paying your utilities on time.  If you pay cash for everything, you will be much happier and wiser as you get older.  Live within your means and you will never be a slave to debt.

  3. i was 12 when i first got my credit/debit card my mom is joint on my account so they gave it to me so if u can swallow ur pride and ask ur parents then the bank will probably give it to u im 14 now so good luck =]

  4. Slow down there fella.  You have no need to establish your credit just yet.

You sound like you're on the fast track to the typical American Dream -- $10,000 credit card debt, $20,000 car debt, $50,000 student loan debt, and $300,000 mortgage debt -- as an indentured servant.

Let me give you some advice: if you don't have the money don't buy it.  Is that ALWAYS true?  No, but it is more often than not its the best policy.  Especially don't buy anything on credit that is not going to give you a return worth as much as you paid.

Let me give you some better advice: establish assets rather than credit.  If you do that you'll never have any problem or need for credit.

  5. if you are responsible enough, here are two great credit cards that will help you establish your credit history at a young age. if you have a job indicate, how much money you make. if you do not have a job, write the allowance you recieve from your parents as part of your income. having income shows the credit card companies that you have a means for paying the credit card bills.
