I want to start building a good credit. I heard that Visa and Mastercard are the best. However, I'm searching for one that has no annual fee with great flyer miles or bonus points. Any suggestions on which credit card company I should choose?

  1. http://cards.yoll.net - try this one. I personally use their card.

As I know it offers 0% interest rate for 18 months. It accepts everyone, even if a person has no credit.

  2. My vote is for the Citi® mtvUTM Platinum Select® Visa® Card for Students

    # Earn 5 ThankYou Points® for every dollar you spend at restaurants, bookstores, record stores, movie theaters and video rentals stores

    # Earn 1 ThankYou Point for every dollar you spend on all other purchases

    # Earn 25 ThankYou Points for paying on time

    # Earn 200-2000 ThankYou Points twice a year for maintaining a good GPA

    # Redeem points for gift cards, MTV events, and airline tickets

  3. I hope you do plan to pay off monthly balance and just spend money within your limit. I hope you are planning to apply for ONLY ONE credit card for now.

Even though, I would still suggest you to focus more on a FIXED LOW INTEREST RATE credit card than reward points. Because you should see credit card as a REAL emergency use and a tool to build up your credit.

  4. As a student, you can apply for student credit card. This card helps you build credit history. I would suggest the following companies:

    1. Discover - good for student as well as great rewards

    2. Capital One - Very good for people who are new to credit

    3. Bank of America - good for student

  5. Julia,

Great idea to start building your credit!  Just make sure you are paying off your statement in FULL each month especially the first 2-3 months.  This will help in establishing your credit.  Below is a link which has some very good cards for students.  Plus all you can apply on line and know within a few minutes whether you are approved or not.  If they can't approve you right away, they will let you know and usually you hear within 2-3 days.
