Credit cards? Credit lines? HELP!!?

Is there any way for you to find out BEFORE being approved what credit line you apply for? I know when you apply it will usually say something about the credit line range you can get (for example, $300-$3000 credit line). I am looking for a credit card and need it to have at least a certain credit line. I don't want to apply for one in hopes of getting a $4000 credit line and ending up with one that is $500, because that won't help me much. So is there any way possible to find out before you actually are approved? Please help :)

Check the minimums, usually there is a minumum credit line they will give you regardless. Also, if you really really need a 4000 dollar credit line, tell a bit of a white lie on your application regarding your income and spending amounts. But keep in mind if this is your first card or credit line they won't see a credit history for you and will probably short change you on it.

for Credit cards no since they will do a credit check and then tell you what they are prepared to lend you.  For a credit line with your bank, you can setup an application for a certain amount and then get a Yes/No for that amount.

You may find that many credit card companies are not giving out higher limit cards.   It really depends on your credit file.

Have you tried to increase the limit on your existing credit cards?  If you use the card and pay it in full every month, the credit card companies tend to automatically increase your limit every year or so.
