Credit goes to CSK bowlers for win over Chargers: Raina – Cricket News Update
Indian batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539 gave credit to the Chennai Super Kings bowlers for the team’s 10-run victory over the Deccan Chargers at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai on May 4.
“It was Ben Hilfenhaus' first match and I thought he bowled brilliantly. So did Albie (Morkel) and Dwayne (Bravo). (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ravindra-c84236) Jadeja's first two overs were brilliant. So a lot of credit for this win goes to our bowling,” Raina pointed out.
The Chennai Super Kings successfully defended 160 against the Deccan Chargers, who fell 10 runs short of the target.
Hilfenhaus, fresh in after Australia’s tour of the Caribbean, appeared to be comfortable in the conditions, as he went on to claim 1 for 31. The Chargers required 20 off the last over, but Hilfenhaus maintained tight control over the run flow, conceding
only 9 runs in addition to claiming the wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashish-Reddy-c1095.
In addition to the Aussie pacer, Morkel also managed to pick up a wicket, as did Raina himself. The all-rounder went on to win the Player of the Match award, for his 32 off 24 balls, along with his 1 for 5 – having dismissed the potentially dangerous Kumar
Sangakkara at just 1 in the 12th over.
“I was introduced because Dhoni thought it's better that an off-spinner bowled to a left-hander,” Raina explained, adding that the wicket had been an important one.
In addition to taking wickets, the Super Kings also functioned as a tight fielding unit, with both http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Dhawan-c2392 and Cameron White (who spearheaded the Charger’s batting line-up with his 77 off 53) being dismissed after being run out.
“We have the best fielding unit in the tournament but still there are areas we need to improve like with our direct throws. For a team, there is always some scope for improvement,” Raina observed.
The win enabled the Super Kings (who have been crowned IPL champions twice) to move up to claim the fourth spot on the tournament points table, having won 5 of the 11 matches they have played. They will be looking to continue in a similar vein in their next
match, as they prepare to tackle the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians on May 6.
