Question:

Credit issue?

I have an issue with an exwife that has had me in collections for 2 years. Since January 06 she has failed to tell me about the collection notices. I have never received a letter, nor have I ever been contacted by phone from this agency.

They have been dealing directly through her.

She has changed our old address to her newest one, and failed to give them any information to contact me.

This was her bill, she brought herself into the ER. The Judge in Divorce Court ordered her to pay all bills that were hers, and that I wasn't liable. She knew of these bills at the time of our divorce, and failed to reveal this.

Just recently she began paying. There was a year and a half where she just threw out the letters after calling them and rerouting them to her.. so that I wouldn't find out.

This has wrecked my credit!

Are collection agencies allowed to speak with her without my consent. There are privacy laws.. They hold my credit liable b/c I was the insured. HELP! PLEASE

  1. I would consult an attorney. If she failed to reveal it during proceedings, you might be able to return to court and sue her. You might also protest to the various credit reporting agencies that she illegally withheld this evidence during court proceedings.

As a side note, I hope you don't make the same mistake again by re-marrying. Women in the USA are not held accountable for their actions. Your own case proves it.
