I gave him crickets today. his substrate is called "coco soft" he lunged at a cricket and got it "I think anyway" there was a piece of substrate in his mouth I took it out of his mouth before he could swallow it. but he ate a tiny piece " It was only a VERY small piece...less than a centimeter big" could he get impaction?. also, I forgot to dust the crickets with calcium.. is this bad?

  1. almost certainly no. coc bedding / humus/ coir is good because its easily digestable

    your cresties gonna be fine

  2. calm down hes fine i would throw out that coco stuff and put eco earth in that is very small pieces of coco fiber that if the swallow any it wont hurt them

  3. This is the very reason that I feed crickets in cups and jars... or feed the gecko in a different container.  Any substrate can cause impaction if it's eaten in a big enough quantity.  I wouldn't risk it anymore... I'd either nix the substrate or get a small jar to put the crickets in within the cage.
