hey, the kick start on my crf 100 seems to be loose when you give it a kick it just kind of fall you dont need to use any strengh and it wont go into gear, theres no compression. i spoke to some people and they said that is is either the gear box or the pistons are burnt out... does anyone know what is wrong or how this can be fixed?

  1. You probably need your top end redone if the compression is down as either piston or rings or both may need doing.   Just because it is a 2006 model 40 hours of riding is still quite enough to need to redo piston and rings.

But have a look if your spark plug is  in tight as sometimes if they are not that can cause lack of compression and who knows you may be lucky.  Just look up a local bike shop in your area as most do servicing or ask a few people who ride who does good work.

With the kick start the fitting is usually metal to metal and if it is loose and you cannot do it up any more (the nut wont go any tighter)  then take the kickstarter off and run something like a hacksaw blade or grinding blade along the metal (hope I am explaining that okay) as that will give a bit more room to tighten the nut up.  Hopefully that is all that is wrong with it and if that is not the case then the gearbox may well be buggered

But if you have to put the bike in to have the piston and rings done and  the gearbox looked at  and  cannot fix the kickstarter yourself just get them to look at that at the same time

  2. How many hours has the bike been raced ?

When was the last time it had a full service ?

No comp, does normally mean bad piston or gearbox, but luck would have it, the piston normally gives up before the box.

Add the details we need and wait for " Auburns " reply.
