im 13 years old, 5'8 , 170lbs

i have a crf150f right now and i want a new bike

i recently wanted a crf150r because i think its just right for me

but everybody keeps saying i will outgrow it soon

and im begining to believe that

but i think the 250 would be to much power for me and ill have to start out like ive never rode before

but ive been riding for 5 years now and i want to start racing, because im ready to race

but i need a race bike, but if i get a 250 ill have to wait and wait till i can handle and control it enough to race

i heard that the weight limit on the crf150r is 200-300 lbs

and you can rase the seat level up on the 150r right??

i need to know whats the best bike for me

so what is it

  1. 250. they dont have to much power but they have enough to make it fun

  2. My son races both of these bikes and at 15 years of age he is a very slight person weighing only about 46kilos.  he is a perfect weight for the 150cc now and his height is approx 5ft6.

I think perhaps you may be better trying a crf250r out as you may be a bit cramped on the crf150r, but maybe you should go to a dealer and have a sit on both bikes.  You would be able to race a 150 for a couple more years as you are only 13 if you decide to go that way.  If you did go with the crf250r you would also ride a junior class but could keep the bike when you turned senior.

Some people who are taller do tend to have a raised seat on their bikes and there doesnt seem to be a ruling that says you cannot do this.

  3. u are way too big to be racing a 150 get a 250f u are as big as me im 23 and race 250f and 450f . you will find the 250f much better to jump its a lot smoother and the thought of someone weighing 200-300 pounds riding a 150f is ridiculas someone of that weight is too big for even a 250f also i dont know what the rules are in the usa but over here in england u cant race a 85 or 150 past 14 years old so there you have it go for the 250f trust me

  4. first of all dont get four strokes  they suck get a cr125 its right for you im 17 and only 5/6 145 punds and i have a kx125 its so fast

  5. I would go with the 250 because you would outgrow the 150 in size and the 250 has lots more power and upgrads for it

  6. Yeah man, at 5'8" and 170 you need a 250F for sure. Even the 150R big wheel model (expert) will be short for you now and you are sure to grow more in the next year.

  7. you may think that the 150r wont be a big jump from your 150f. but boy wont you be surprised. for a smaller bike that thing is a true motocrosser, it has the racing suspension, and it defintly has the power. i have rode one of the new 150r's and i was surprised just how much pick up and go it has. its not strange to hear it be compared to 125 2 strokes! All in all i think that the 150r would be a great bike for you. you wont be dissapointed. good luck.
